Usually luscious sweets, enjoyable carbs, deep-fried variants are what I crave most. On the organic, healthy, vegetable note, I always have a stigma of ‘dull’ taste. I don’t push through. Until my point is proved wrong, I discovered this real organic comfort food on metro. Yes, catered as one of the best local restaurants in Metro Manila.

It is not your typical bland food restaurant. Owned by Bianca Araneta Elizalde of Aria Boracay Fame, THE WHOLESOME TABLE appeases your mouth over its heavenly organic food selection. They use pure organic sources. They told us that they utilize local artisan products, uses free-range chicken and eggs, grass fed-beef, wild-caught seafood. Sauces as well are natural. They avoid high fructose corn syrup, refined sugar and trans fat usage.

Let me share you some of their NEW WHOLESOME FOOD which I personally ate. They also now offer this ALL-DAY BREAKFAST. Price is also cost-effective. Yummy! Sounds delectable, right? Get ready.

Craving for some Filipino sweet flavor and nutty crunch? Not your regular kakain, this is a ‘wholesome spin’ latik sticky rice sprinkled with cashew nuts, hemp and chia seeds, banana cuts, cacao nibs and desiccated coconut. It’s a must try!

GLUTEN-FREE WAFFLES

GLUTEN-FREE WAFFLES
CHOICE OF COMPOTE: STRAWBERRY (410 PESOS)
APPLE-PEAR-CRANBERRY (320 PESOS)

Confused on what exactly GLUTEN-FREE is? According to BBC Good Food section, gluten is the protein component found in wheat. It gives elasticity, strength and the ability to ‘hold’ food products together. Gluten is found on most diets such as cakes, bread, pizza and biscuits. Over consumption of gluten may lead to digestive symptoms such as bloating, pain and stomach cramps.

These waffles are combined with a choice of strawberry compote or apple pear cranberry. What ignites me more is the topping. Coco butter topping for waffles and they refill for FREE! Taste is very cream-buttery, natural sweet which lets you come crawl for more.

Let’s go to SOLO SALAD SERVINGS category. ‘DIET’ as what most Filipinos pertain to.

CHICKEN SALAD

CHICKEN DUKKAH SALAD
(SOLO – 300 PESOS | REGULAR – 500 PESOS)

What is DUKKAH? Its an egyptian spice blend of toasted nuts and seeds. Fuses perfectly with olive oil. This salad contains Dukkah-coated grilled chicken, onions, squash, tomatoes, sprinkled cheese, sunflower seeds and balsamic vinaigrette.

My expectation of solo serving is a very small plate. To my surprise, it was good for sharing. How much more on regular serving? There’s no odd taste like ‘nakakaumay’. Instead, bites of green lettuce, sweet-sour sauce, fruity gooey are what my tongue grasped. Ideally, I would treat it as siesta alternative. They have lots of yummy salad menu choices too.

As for NEW DIPS, check this out:

SPINACH CHEESE DIP

One of my desired appetizers is a healthy cheese spread over a toasted bread. Presenting SPINACH CHEESE DIP! Not your ordinary cheese mix, spinach is added for a low-calorie wholesome goodness. Health benefits of spinach are low in fat and cholesterol, as well as, excellent source of vitamin K, vitamin A and iron. Now I can indulge on cheese every morning! I am a hard-core cheese lover.

PASTA, anyone?

CARBONARA
(SOLO – 440 PESOS | REGULAR – 840 PESOS)

My never ending favourite, CARBONARA! Have tasted a lot of carbonara before so I can judge. HAHA! Among the candidates, you shall crave more over this! This carbonara doesn’t go overworked in taste buds. Ingredients are cream, cured pork belly, free-range egg, parmesan cheese, mushroom and green leafy stuff.

Ever heard of WOODFIRED PIZZA?

CHICKEN CURRY AND HARVEST PIZZA
Grilled Chicken Curry Pizza and Harvest Pizza Copyright photo of Marian Torres

GRILLED CHICKEN CURRY PIZZA (690 PESOS)

Regards to pizza’s outlook, I prefer semi-toasted and thin crust pizza. Also crushed tomatoes, all-meat chunks and oozing cheese melt is second to my likeness. Their CHICKEN CURRY PIZZA is crafted from curry sauce, grilled chicken, tomatoes, onion, basil, peanuts, yogurt and pepperoni. Never thought I would love this pizza. It captures a heavy cheese sentiment over succulent meat on every bite.

HARVEST PIZZA (690 PESOS)

It contains squash. SQUASH ON PIZZA? Are you joking? Nope. It is actually dainty. The cream is a mixture of SQUASH, truffle oil and cream, onions, mushroom, olive oil and more. Overall, the pizza is dressed with parmesan cheese, pine nuts, mushroom, kale, tomatoes and green leaves. Taste is analogous to carbonara with bursting tomato meltdown. To complete, I peppered it with red chili flakes.

How about some RICE BOWLS? Get your spoons ready!

yakitori

CHICKEN YAKITORI (320 PESOS)

Yakitori is a Japanese type of skewered chicken. Preparation involves skewering the meat with kushi, can be made of steel. Then grilled over a charcoal fire and seasoned with tare sauce or salt. THE WHOLESOME TABLE’s version showcases intriguing ‘chicken skin’ which has a matching bacon texture. Chicken Yakitori’s other elements are brown rice, baked chicken crisp, GF yakitori sauce, peas and eggs. I love the way it crunch inside my mouth with a lemon twist. That feeling when brown rice juggles in this appetizing moment. GYUDON AND BIBIMBAP are other choices. BIBIMBAP is exclusively available at Estancia Mall Branch.

Appetizingly pleasant, right? Yes, there is no regrets dear! Come and visit them today. There’s also more enthralling food and drink options at THE WHOLESOME TABLE awaiting you. Also if you love INSTAGRAM, their organic aura and interior are perfect. Ambiance for eating is pretty amazing.
